Hollister Flextend™ skin barrier (wafer)
FlexTend provides ostomates with the longest wear time available. Flextend is a hydrocolloid skin barrier that is designed to be the most resistant to discharge and is the barrier of choice for urostomies and high output ileosotomies. Flextend barriers swell when in contact with liquid discharge. It has a mildly acidic pH (4.5 - 5.0) which may help to control the growth of some skin organisms. Caution: use of a skin sealant (e.g. Skin Gel Protective Dressing Wipes) will decrease the wear time that would be expected.

Cut-to-Fit Skin Barrier
A cut to fit barrier or wafer allows the user to cut the skin barrier opening to the size and shape of the stoma.

Convexity Skin Barrier (wafer)
Stomas that are flushed, recessed or retracted fit better with a barrier or wafer with convexity.  The barrier actually pushes slightly into the skin for a better fit. These barriers are either pre-sized or cut-to-fit.

Anti-Reflux Valve
Hollister urostomy pouches have an Anti-Reflux valve which is constructed to prevent reflux from the pouch that back towards the stoma.

Drain Valve Open/Closed (Tear Drop) Indicator
Hollister urostomy pouches have a golden teardrop on the adjustable drain valve.  If the teardrop is visible to the wearer, this indicates that the valve is open.

Hollister urostomy pouches also have a specially designed valve which permits control over the flow without getting fingers wet. It has a wide bore opening designed to pass mucous plugs if present in the urine.

Hollister SoftFlex Skin Barrier (wafer)
SoftFlex is a thin and highly flexible hydrocolloid skin barrier that provides gentle adherence to skin. It is designed for more frequently removed pouches like closed one-piece pouches or when the skin is very fragile (e.g. elderly ostomates). SoftFlex is mildly resistant to breakdown and is best used for low water content discharge (e.g. colostomies).

FlexWear is a stronger synthetic adhesive and is used most often for pouching changes that are longer than one day.

Hollister ElastaFlex Skin Barrier (wafer) Backing
ElastaFlex is an ultra-thin, soft and flexible semi-permeable film that covers the skin barrier. It keeps fluids from eroding the skin barrier.

Integral Gas Filter
Hollister's patented gas filter deodorizes and vents gas from within a pouch. It passes gas through a specially designed device consisting of activated carbon.

The Hollister ultra thin skin barrier provides greater flexibility and moldability to body contours for better fit and comfort.
