| Medicare will cover a bedside commode under the following
situations: 1. The patient is confined to a single room, or 2. The patient is confined to one level of the home environment and there is not toilet on that level, or 3. The patient is confined to the home and there are no toilet facilities in the home. A physician's order is required documenting the need for a bedside commode. |
| Although bathrooms safety items can prevent many accidents, Medicare does not pay for any of them. Your private insurance may pay for some items, but every policy is different. In our experience most insurance companies do not pay for bathroom safety items. If you feel that your company might reimburse you for your expense, please let us know and we will submit a bill for you on your behalf. |
